This delicate gaiwan is painted in Chinese traditional Dunhuang dance painting, paired with a kohiki craft. 

The inspiration for the pattern of Dunhuang flying apsaras comes from the murals in Dunhuang Grottoes (such as Mogao Grottoes). The flying apsaras in Dunhuang murals fly without feathers, and present a light and dancing posture through the ribbons wrapped around their arms. The flying ribbons and the heavenly music give people a romantic imagination of heaven, carrying the ancient Chinese people's pursuit of spiritual freedom.
