This traditional type of Yixing clay teapot is called a Hanwa teapot.

The shape of the Hanwa pot comes from "Qin bricks and Han tiles". The cylindrical pot body is made of Yixing purple clay, dark red, and full of old flavor.

This year 2024 is the Year of the Dragon in China. This pot is hand engraved with a flying dragon with four claws, wishing you all the best in the Year of the Dragon.

The reverse side is hand engraved: "Yu Feng San Huai"(御风散怀), which literally, means flying in the clouds with spirit.

Each Yixing teapot is made through dozens of tedious manual processes to create the quality you can rest assured of. 

Why brew tea with Yixing clay teapots?

The reason why the Yixing purple clay teapot has the function of "improvement and fragrance retention" is mainly determined by the characteristics of the purple clay clay. The purple clay teapot is a porous material with a double-pore structure. The pores are very dense and have strong adsorption forces. It can absorb the aroma of tea and keep it for a long time. However, glazed ceramic teapots lack this function. Therefore, it's very fit for brewing aged tea.
